Our colored belt students learn four different sets of forms.

Tae Geuk

Tae Geuk are a series of forms defined and required by World Taekwondo. Students learn a new Tae Geuk form with each belt.

Ki Bon Don Jak

Literally translated, "Ki Bon Don Jak" means fundamental hand techniques. Our students are required to learn a series of eight different Ki Bon Don Jak forms for their belt promotion tests. These forms consist mainly of pure hand techniques and movements. All of these forms begin with a block of some kind. This is to remind the student that Taekwondo is a self defense and any technique applied should begin with a defensive movement.

Ki Bon Don Jak 1

Face forward in horseback stance
Left hand down block
Right hand down block

Left hand outer block, palm facing face

Turn Left 90 degrees Forward stance

Turn Left 90 degrees Forward stance

Turn Left 90 degrees Forward stance

step to forward stance (left leg forward)
right hand knife hand strike to bent left arm
pull left leg back to tiger stance
raising left hand high and lowering right straight up and down
then make a circle (slowly and deep breathing) do right hand to chin and left to crotch area

turn 180 degrees to right to tiger stance (right leg forward)
make big circle with hands from high to low (slowly, and deep breathing out)
when hands meet at bottom right hand is palm up left hand is palm towards left hand
step into back stance (right leg forward) with left hand high knife hand block left hand low knife hand block
step to forward stance (right leg forward)
left hand knife hand strike to bent right arm
pull right back to tiger stance
raising right hand high and lowering left straight up and down
then make a circle (slowly and deep breathing) do left hand to chin and right to crotch area

turn 180 degrees to left lifting left leg to blocking position
left hand low block and right hand high block (short pause keeping knee up)
left side kick land in forward stance facing left
right elbo attack and quickly right back fist
quickly left punch and quickly right punch

turn 180 degrees to right lifting right leg to blocking position
right hand low block and left hand high block (short pause keeping knee up)
right side kick land in forward stance facing right
left elbo attack and quickly left back fist
quickly right punch and quickly left punch

turn to face forward and horseback stance
left outer knife hand strike (palm down)
right inner knife hand strike (palm up)
right outer knife hand strike (palm down)

(quickly) right punch to center, left punch to center, right high punch and yell

 

Ki Bon Don Jak 6

Start with both feet together, left hand in front of right making an "X" in front of abdomen.

Move right foot to right to horseback stance.
Right hand ridge hand to right side with palm up.
Left hand knife block at solar plexus, palm up.
Move left elbow to right palm for elbow strike.
Move left arm in front, parallel to floor, elbow stopping when straight out, arm bent 90 degrees at elbow
Left arm down block
Right arm "hook punch" with arm parallel to ground and bent at elbow.
Rotat right hand straight up for backfist to side
Scissors block with right arm as down block and and left arm outer block.
Left hand backfist to back.
Left hand uppercut using right arm to simulate pulling apponents head forward
Keeping left arm up, put right fist by left elbow.
Keeping right fist by left elbow, simultaneously move arms to left and lift left foot to stomp hard.
Move right fist, palm up, to right side. Move left fist palm down to touch left index with right pinky.
Punch with both fists to left and kiup.

Rotate left arm to ridge hand with palm up
Right hand knife block at solar plexus, palm up.
Move right elbow to left palm for elbow strike.
Move right arm in front, parallel to floor, elbow stopping when straight out, arm bent 90 degrees at elbow
Right arm down block

Ki Bon Don Jak 7

Start with both feet together, left hand in front of right making an "X" in front of abdomen.

Move right foot out to only shoulder width apart.
Quick double spear hand, palms down to eye level.
Quickly retract hands and double punch to eye level.

Move right foot out to horseback stance.
Right "hook punch" keeping arm parallel to ground.
Bring right hand to side with palm up.
Left "hook punch" keeping arm parallel to ground.
Right spear hand strike, palm facing left. Put left hand under right tricep with left palm down.
Left spear hand strike, palm facing right. Put right hand under left tricep with right palm down.

Slowly bring left hand back.
While facing forward, slow palm strike to each side, simultaneously.

Step right foot forward to deep stance.
Right punch forward, left punch forward, right punch forward.
Pull right foot back to cat stance with right foot in front of left.
Palm strike down with right hand.
Slowly lift right hand to shoulder height.
Slow forward palm strike with right hand.

Pull right foot back to even with left foot.
Step left foot forward to deep stance.
Left punch forward, right punch forward, left punch forward.
Pull left foot back to cat stance with left foot in front of right.
Palm strike down with left hand.
Slowly lift left hand to shoulder height.
Slow forward palm strike with left hand.

Keeping left hand out, rotate to right 90 degrees.
Step right foot forward to deep stance.
Right punch down. Left punch high. Right punch middle.
Left foot front kick then bring it back where it was and get in back stance.
Right hand ridge with palm facing up.
Bring right foot towards left to cat stance.
Right hand palm strike down.
Slowly lift right hand up to shoulder high and slow palm strike.

Keeping right hand out, rotate to left 180 degrees.
Step left foot forward to deep stance.
Left punch down. Right punch high. Left punch middle.
Right foot front kick then bring it back where it was and get in back stance.
Left hand ridge with palm facing up.
Bring left foot towards right to cat stance.
Left hand palm strike down.
Slowly lift left hand up to shoulder high and slow palm strike.

Ki Bon Don Jak 8

This whole form is to be completed slow with Tai Chi type movements. The whole body should be completly relaxed. Use deep breathing and exhale during the blocks and strikes.

Start with both feet together, left hand in front of right making an "X" in front of abdomen.

Turn to left 90 degrees into deep stance.

Turn to left 45 degrees
Hold left arm out bent 90 degrees and do right knife hand strike to arm
Continue bringing right hand down and move left arm up
When they reach their maximums, bring left arm to left and right arm to right making a large circle
Right palm strike to chin and left grab to groin

Turn to right 90 degrees from where you are
Hold right arm out bent 90 degrees and do left knife hand strike to arm
Continue bringing left hand down and move right arm up
When they reach their maximums, bring right arm to right and left arm to left making a large circle
Left palm strike to chin and right grab to groin


Kicking Forms

These kicking forms will use the face of a clock as reference to direction
noon = front of Do Jang
3 pm = right side of Do Jang
6 pm = rear of Do Jang
9 pm = left side of Do Jang

Fighting Stance facing left (9 pm)
Step behind side kick to the left
Front kick (right leg) to the left

Turn 180 degrees to the right (3 pm)
